One of our new accounts where we do lighting maintenance was written up by a local inspector for the pool light splice box not being 8" above the overflow level of the pool. It is approx. 25' back from the edge of the pool. It is probably 4" or less from the water level, and doesn't meet 680.24A(2) a) requirements for 8". 3 pool lights are piped in brass to the junction boxes which are connected together. I need to get 8" more cord on each but have never worked with brass. Is there a coupling available where I can cut the back the brass pipe, shorten the pipe then reinstall the junction boxes?

Each light has its own deck box or splice box ? You need to hope the installer left enough loop in the cord. There should be enough so the light can sit on the deck for servicing. There is a little brass niche that you loosen and the light comes free with a little twist.
If it's me I dig down at the boxes, then boost the conduit with a rock fill back in have a nice day.
