So I have a customer that wants an estimate on putting the pool lights, 3 of them, on a dimmer. It’s for a pool at a condominium building and one of the residents that’s on the side where the pool is, is complaining that the lights are too bright!? Has anyone done this? And do they sell dimmable pool transformers? I would also have to switch the pool lamps if they are not dimmable I guess.

Never tried it, but if you have a transformer, I assume a MLV dimmer would work as long as the fixture is dimmable.

are the lights AC or DC?

i prefer any dimming like that to be on DC and to use a PWM controller vs lowering voltage in xfrmer.

are there any local codes that require X # of lumes in the pool? can the lights be fitted with a eyelid hood?

although the request is about dimming, i would verify local codes 1st to see if lower lumens is allowed or not.

Fionna correct about checking code requirements for lumens in public pool. Don't have the APSP (pool) code in front of me but there is a requirement based on the pool size.
