Has anyone seen or used these? I just saw them mentioned on the house page at City-Data.com. I never heard of them before. I see them being very troublesome & the cost is high.

If you are talking about for a kitchen countertop, the Hubble one is the only one that is listed to comply with 406.5(E).

Good to know.

Also, if listing is required don't buy it on Amazon.com, where NRTL may not be required for international sellers.

Checking NRTL listings can take all day with no luck on Amazon.com, unless OEM offers line card data somewhere else.

One of the issues is that manufacturers have been playing with the wording on their information trying to get you to believe that they have an assembly listed for use in a countertop when they really don't. With one brand, only the GFCI receptacle itself is listed, the complete assembly is not.

Most AHJ inspectors identify listing violations in the field long before they master code violations.

Focusing on listings reveals more unqualified work that may pass other code.

Do you mean UL 498 Section 146?

There are a number of cord connected devices that say they are counter top compliant, ie : https://www.lewelectric.com/kitchen-countertop/pur-series/

The Bryant/Hubbell ones are the only ones I've seen that are hard wired and UL 498 sec 146 compliant. Spill proof in both the closed AND open condition.

Personally, I don't think sec 406.5(E) goes far enough in specifying the exact requirements.
