Pop-up receptacles

For those of you that have installed a few pop up counter top receptacles, and they were possibly part of an inspection, or you have the knowledge, and insight, I would like to know.

Would it be an issue if the box / outlet was installed in the overhang portion of the countertop?

Customer had kitchen remodeled and wants that outlet. It may be an issue as the only other place would be over the dishwasher, and there may or may not be enough clearance.

My popup outlet required a space, below the countertop, of roughly a cube 4.5" on all sides. I think the hole in the counter top was only about 3". We use ours so often, it is rarely popped down.

In another thread I learned a new acronym for a certain qualified person a VLAHJ some are yielding this issue to this new NEC sheriff in town the Very Local AHJ (VLAHJ):

My counter top vendor drilled my opening as part out their base cost. My outlet is recessed so it is flush with the counter top until it is popped up. No crumb build up not as ugly as faucets. I was at one house where the contractor installed side mount receptacles. One end had a receptacle...
