portable generator and transfer switch

i recently installed a reliance transfer switch to my 200amp service panel, we recently had an ice storm here in st louis and lost power for 2 days, when i hooked up my 8000 watt troybilt generator it would trip the 30 amp circuit breaker on the generator when i switch the transfer switch to generator, what can i do to fix this problem
