Thanks in advance. My project is to power chain area lighting with a portable generator. I'm looking at the Honda EU2000i. The manual says the frame ground is not connected to the neutral.
My plan is to use a cabinet with a terminal block to connect the load wires to an SO cord to connect to the receptacle on the generator. The cabinet has a ground rod and I'm connecting the neutral to the ground there. Do you see any issues?

It'll work, but generally the bonding jumper is supposed to be at or near the first means of disconnect, which would be in the generator. There are a pile of topics in the forums here about this exact subject, and IIRC there's a Honda service bulletin.

It's also probably easier (and safer IMHO) to modify the generator than build up a box to do it. From the manual (which has a schematic), it appears all you have to do is jump from the paralleling connection N to the frame ground.
