I installed a 30amp generator breaker with a interlock from the utility power main 200amp breaker so the home owner can pick any Circuit they want up to the 30amp load that the 7000 watt generator can handle . I installed a 30amp 4 wire power inlet box at the rear of the house ran 10-3 romex to the main panel and connected it to a two pole 30amp breaker . Does this sound legal so far ? My other question is the home owners generator is bonded neutral to the frame of the portable generator. How do I wire the neutral and ground wire from the 10-3 romex in my main panel ,? Also if it was nonseparately derived how would i wire it differently ?

First, what type of interlocking device/switch is installed to prevent back feeding?

Second, do you understand the difference between installing a separately derived system vs a non separately system? When to use which?

Your description raises a few warning bells IMO.

This is the interlock switch ...

Jumper what do you think ? I’ve been doing more reading and seems like since my neutral connection in the main electrical panel is not switched between the utility and portable generator than I would have to remove the bonding jumper on my generator between the portable generator case and the neural connection correct ? Because If I switch the neural on the main electrical panel than I would have to add a ground rod for my portable generator and that ant going to happen . How does that sound legal ? Right now my portable generator has a bond between neutral and the case .

Is there a bond between generator neutral and the case for a non separately derived system connected to the premise wiring? How does the unswitched neutral and building GES affect this set up?

If the generator is used as a stand alone unit with no direct attachment to the premise wiring, would a bond be needed between the case and generator neutral be needed? What about a GES?
What type of system is this?

Click on the link in my Previous post and let me know how you would wire that generator to a main 40 circuit 200amp house panel

This is the generator I’m wiring it has a boned neutral to the case how would you wire it ?

You need to remove the bonding jumper and run this as a non-SDS but this may create a hazard if someone wants to use the generator for other portable purposes. Also you'll need two signs one at the service equipment (not the meter enclosure) the other at the inlet stating what type of system you're using.

Read this article this is the same situation I’m trying to figure out
https://www.doityourself.com/forum/...neutral-bond-frame-thing-driving-me-nuts.html

That link is from almost 7 years ago and there have been some code changes regarding portable generators.

Not sure what the issue is, you need to either set it up as an SDS or non-SDS. For a non-SDS you need to remove the bonding jumper on the generator but then it shouldn't be used for other portable purposes. I removed the one on my Generac which was about a 5 minute job.

Which code article says the bonding between neutral and frame be removed in non separately derived system? Is the non separately derived system frame bonded to EGC?
