Our project involves re-wiring electric to power posts located on a floating dock system. The 600 Amp electric sub-panels (NEMA 4x enclosures) will be located on-land directly adjacent to the gangways leading to the floating docks. Do these sub-panels with NEMA 4X enclosures meet the requirements of section 555.13(B)(4) Portable Power Cables or is another type of junction box with terminal blocks required?

We may be overlooking or mis-reading but locally the panels on shore are NEMA 3R

Assuming the Panels are NEMA 3R would this be an acceptable method of wiring? In other words connect the portable power cables directly to the panel and then out to the floats? Or is some sort of intermediate junction box with terminal blocks required.

Our guys normally sleeve the cable in conduit to the shore panel and use pin sleeves to terminate.
