I have a question regarding a door mounted rotary disconnect that has been installed/added on a piece of equipment. In order to shut this disconnect off, grab the handle and pull it UPWARD! Yes, this shuts it off!
:jawdrop:
Is there somewhere in the NEC that states the 'direction' of a disconnect handle de-energizing the power? I have never seen this in my 30 years of being in the electrical trade!

Disconnect is in the 'ON' position in this picture.

Thank you,

I don't think that the NEC addresses this type of switch. You can probably open the cover and reorient it so that the handle is in a different position for on and off. As Digger stated the direction of turning on/off is fixed.

Thank you!

Thank you!

Appreciate the feedback! A contractor had modified the electrical cabinet to correct a different issue and I wanted to know if the installation was acceptable per code. I've never seen a disconnect handle installed this way, but your comments make sense. Thanks again!:D
