Just returned from a Monday ruining job, I had other plans. Customer claimed he blew 3-2000 amp fuses at 480 VAC. I went to the job GFP did not trip all 3 fuses blown. Found a fried 100 amp disconnect and a damaged 2000 amp busway. Found a EMON sub meter bus tapped off the line side of the fusible disconnect. The EMON was totally smoked and the bus taps were fried from the EMON to the line side connections.

Tested the GFP and it worked adequatly, removed the damaged busway fusible safety switch, cleaned the busway plug-in connection. Meggered and all paramteters were above 600 megohms.

#14 AWG fused at 2000 amps for 15'.

Generally we install KTK at 3 amps for these taps.

WOW!
That was a costly "install"'. Someobody sure saved them a lot.
3 KTK fuses + fuse holder vs (3) 2000 amp fuses + service call

That doesn't even address the potential safety issues with the tap.
Hopefuly the customer learned something for his expense.
