This is on the same job from the post about mis-matching devices;

I have a 7 gang switch box w/ decora devices (remodel, existing).

I looked in a leviton catalog several weeks ago, and saw their wallplates went up to 12 gang, so it wasn't a concern.

Now I find out they are special order; They are $60 ea, and I have to buy 4 to meet the minimum order requirement.

A local powder coat shop just happened to have the exact color I need from a special order they're working on for another customer.

I ordered a 7 gang stainless wallplate from P&S. It was $80, and the powder coating is $8.

Has anyone tried this, and did it turn out okay? I think it will come out nice, but I'm a little nervous now. If it flops, I wasted $90 and will have to explain to the customer why it will cost another $200 for a wallplate.

Sectionals are not an option for this customer; they want perfection and are willing to pay as long as it meets their expectations.

Why not try it on a single gang stainless plate first, 10 bucks to find out before you spend the $90

why not just order the plate you need from leviton and use a 3 & 4 gang till it comes in talk with your supplier to add it into an order

I have had alot of stuff powdercoated, it all just depends on the person who is doing the job for you, it should turn out fine as long as they know what they are doing.
