Power and control cable

Does it make sense for a 3c/#12 cable feeding a motor to be called a power and control cable? Isn't it one or the other? I guess it depends what's feeding it? A 120v panel or a control panel? Thanks

Ok, I thought about it....again pulled the trigger to fast:blink:. The voltage will determine whether it's control or power!!??

That is just what tray cable is called.
336.2 Definition. Power and Control Tray Cable, Type TC.
A factory assembly of two or more insulated conductors, with or without associated bare or covered grounding conductors, under a nonmetallic jacket.
