Question came to mind. Where does it specify how long a cable run can be ran for equipment if its mc going to exhaust fan or #8/4 . Do the code require any length specification?

Not directly.

The Code does tell you to follow any manufacturer's instructions.

Get the motor manufacturer's installation instructions and look for minimum voltage that the motor is designed for. Then get the impedance of your branch circuit wiring, the voltage at the branch circuit over current protective device, the motor full load amps and then you can calculate the maximum length using Ohm's Law.
