I am curius has to what flexible cord would be recommended for use on a CNC lathe an a welder in an industrial enviroment, that is armored and/or can stand up to the hazardous environment. My customer is unsure about the type of wire to purchase, VFD or pvc coated armored cable.
Please give me some pointers if possible.
Thanks!

CNC in a hazardous location? Or is this just a CNC and welder in a industrial area? Anyways, I'm not an electrician, but I'm pretty sure our CNC's are just simple THHN wire pulled through EMT.

As for the welders, most likely a SOOW cord.

There is no engineer stating the wiring requirements?

A little off the topic but relevant to the topic.

1. CNC units in general are not rated for hazardous environments unless special ordered.
they are usually rated general purpose. i have delt with lots of robot applications.

2. how are you going to use a welder in classified environment?
what type of classification is this?
what did the risk assesment reveal?
what precautions must be observed before using the welder?

In my opinion you really haven't given enough information.
what is the application?
what is the material(s) you are working with?
what is the area classified as?

regards,
james
