Power factor correction

for a given horsepower, what or how many kilovars are needed for correction?
EXAMPLE: A 200HP MOTOR WILL NEED HOW MANY KVAR CORRECTION IN A CIRCUIT TO MAINTAIN UNITY

More information than the motor HP is required in order to correctly size PFC capacitors.

1. Static (each motor) or bulk (feeder)correction?
2. Voltage?
3. Full load and/or no-load current?
4. Existing power factor?
5. Desired power factor? (Unity PF is not recommended for static correction)

How much detail do you want to go into?
