Power Feed over Hot Tub Followup

When measuring the 10ft that 608.8 calls for from the hot tub, is it measured from where the cable, if it fell, would hit the ground or the actual distance with it already ten feet in the air from the tub? The code doesn't specify how to measure this.

Any help would be appreaciated since I have to extend my deck the correct distance.

Just as it says: " Horizontal limit of clearance measured from inside wall of the pool This limit shall extend to the outer edge of the structures listed in A and B of this table but not less than 3 m (10 ft)."

The 10 feet is only the horizontal not the hight over a pool/ hot tub as that is 22' that must be maintained to 10 feet beyond the inside pool wall.

Be sure to photocopy NEC Article 680 (not 608) :)

Good luck!

dan,

If you want to make sure of things you should call your local Utility Co. I think they will send someone out to check things out and tell you what your options are.
