I'm trying to cleanup the wiring on an irrigation controller mounted outdoors on an exterior wall.
The cleanest method would be to cut the plug off the controller power cord and run it though conduit to a box where it would be hardwired. But it seems as though it may be a violation to use power cord as permanent wiring as it may not be rated for the purpose. Though I can't locate an exact citation in NEC with that wording.
If that is the case, is the only option to place a wet-in-use receptacle housing and leave the controller power cord hanging down off of it?
