Use a 20" wide panel to make screwing into two studs easier. The actual hardware you use will depend mostly on whether you have steel or wood studs, but it will be a screw of some sort.

Actually it can be IN the wall but best talk to fire chief first. Will need double drywall and boxed in at the least.Save time and money and see what he is ok with first.

is it a fire wall or fire barrier. there are different types of rated walls. and each has different methods for penetrations depending on the ul design for the wall assembly. check plans and talk to the building inspector for the requirements.

How we can mounting a surface mounted power panel on Fire rated wall?

The answer is its fire rate, all the assemby's that makes up the wall construction makes it "rated".

You are making this application to be as one with this wall & structure, they'll all rated.

Your use of surface mount device or even a insert box or panel is also rated for these type of applications.

Remember the wall is rated UL , as the Panel/Can/Device Boxes are as well.

Red is what an inspector told me one day... I had the same question...
