Hello,

My question has to do with powering a small electronic devise. I have a portable CD player that is battery operated, but a DC power supply cannot be used as an alternative. The devise lists its power requiremnts as 4.5 VDC at 500 mA.

I found a power supply that has a jack that will fit the CD player, but the power output is listed as 12 VDC and 1 A.

I assume if I use this power supply to power the CD player, I will damage it. Can someone please confirm.

Thank you.

AZ, the Shack and other places usually sell "universal" power supplies with adjustable outputs and swappable polarities and interchangeable plug tips.

The 12V supply will burn up the player. You can use any supply rated at 4.5 VDC and 500ma (0.5a) or greater current. Be sure to get the polarity correct.
