We had a power surge two weeks ago that resulted in all of our 110v outlets reading 220v inside, and we blew out our fridge and range and some lights blew out. Once the power company fixed the downed wire that caused the problem, everything was okay except for one outlet that controlled a ceiling fan. I checked with a voltage tester and all other outlets in the room are working fine and wired properly (based on the light response on the voltage tester). When I disconnect the control unit for the ceiling fan at the wall plate, I read the following: hot to neutral (50v), neutral to ground (120v), hot to ground (25v). I can't seem to locate an outlet upstream that shows an open neutral. Any other ideas? Many thanks.
