This is a Pre-fab BBQ structure (stucco and countertops) with two grills (seperate appliances) built into it. No UL or any other listing marks, and the intructions say "your electrician make hardwired connections to the LINE side of the GFCI device", and describes the location of THAT.... A handy box with two 14/3 SOJ and GFCI out to two other outlets outside of the faux stucco - both have no bubble covers... It amazes me what people can sell...

Yep. That outlet is going to get greasy.

Here if we had an inspection. The inspectors would look for some type of lable or listing of the product.

Why would you need bubble covers? Surley that recep is not exposed to the weather. It appears to be in some kind of accessible interior portion of the unit juging from the exposed drywall. I also see a gas regulater that has no gas running to it yet? I would think there is no smoke or grease entering this area when finished.

There is nothing in the NEC to stop anybody from building cabinents and buying exhaust fans listed for use over cooking areas and assembiling them into a unit. Big business here with cabinent shops. It is done in 10000's of lanai's all over Florida around the pool areas. They are call Summer Kitchens. And they also are exempt from kitchen counter spacing as a normal kitchen would. At least in Lee County Fl. Yes they have microwaves, ovens, sinks and cooktops.

Not here - the two on the outside of the unit at the end of each SOJ cord are exterior, one on the side and another on the face of the thing...

Since I have a license to install electrical wiring - If I made a cabinet or glorified stuccoed shipping box for appliances and pre-wired it - I would need to adhear to national and local building codes. Not run SOJ willy nilly unsupported to undersized boxes. While there may not be a law against selling such - Sans a listing there a few about me completing the installation for them...

I was referring to it not requireing UL listing or lableing. I agree wireing methods must meet NEC.

Please change the title of this thread, that is not BBQ, that is a grill. You want to see BBQ, come to North Carolina.

Yes I too believe it is not BBQ unless wood is involved for a long time... Dare I say - I need not travel as far as my back yard for it. And have well over 200#'s of wood on stock most of the time for shoulder and brisket. (Oak, Mesquite, and Hickory)

What are the two little vents in the sheetrock for??
To allow for just the right condensation levels to make this hunk o' funk rust at an accelorated rate. The area is bathed in marine fog daily - even most grades of stainless rusts out quick there. All of the screws are deep red that hold the framing together under where I took the picture from - the rest will follow soon. By next year or so one might assume there may be little left holding this together really.
