What are the best questions to ask in a Preconstruction Meeting as a new PM for an Electrical Contractor?

your questions will be specific to you... idk what you don't know.

pre-con is a time for coordination with other subs, getting answers to RFI's that have been ignored, reviewing points of conflict with other trades, etc.

Spend a day in the plans before you go, make notes of concerns you have, ask them at the pre-con.

Its just a big meet & greet to go over procedures. If you're lucky there will be snacks, or the GC will organize a big luncheon for PM's & foreman. Problems are best resolved over good food.

do: meet the folks that you will be coordinating with and establish main point of contacts
don't: ask questions that are clearly spelled out in notes on the drawings

I have done a few inspections on large projects that have a "Resolution Committee" made up of all the trades, that meet monthly. How wide spread are they still utilized ?

I've worked w/ some that require a meeting every friday, and some that require it once a month.

Agreed and most of my larger projects had weekly progress meetings and monthly OAC (Owner Architect Contractor) meetings where PM'S were required to be present
