Could any tell me a good video based preparation refresher for taking the EE PE Exam? I went to Mike Holt's Link and I saw two websites that has video courses: one is Blank Institue and other one is one created by North Carolina State University. Has anyone tried to view any to these two video course. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Re: Preparation for PE Exam

They have changed the rules since I took my exam. The last thing I heard about reference books may no longer be true. What I heard was that you were only allowed one specific, standard, reference book, and you were not allowed to bring your own copy. In order to prevent anyone from writing extra "cheat notes" in the margins, they will give you a clean copy as you walk in the door. If that is still the rule, then go buy a copy of that book. You will want to study with it right at hand. If that is not the rule, then find out what you can do about reference books.

Charlie,

I have not taken a course in awhile and I wanted to a refresher course via video. Any recommendations? I prefer the close book test because they tend to be bit easier.

Re: Preparation for PE Exam

I hate to admit this, even to myself, but I took the PE test 18 years ago, and I was 12 years out of school at that time. One good thing about the PE business is that once you pass, you never have to take the test again. So I'm afraid I don't know anything about current training aids.

Although I did not go this route, there were night classes available at the time. I know that is still an option, as two of my fellow employees took a class together over the past few months. They are waiting for the test results.

Good luck.

I would recommend contacting your local Professional Engineering chapter. In Michigan(where I have been licensed for 14 years), the MSPE has an excellent review course taught by very qualified personnel. I took the review course given by my undergraduate college, and smoked right through the test.

Good Luck
