I find numerous references in the NEC for support of Track Lighting, 2 supports per 4' track, and box support, but no article about independent support of fluorescent luminaires. On a project where 8 foot 2 lamp fluorescent luminaires were supported by 3/8" downrods from a open metal joist ceiling at 12 foot, many of the luminaires have no rods and are supported by the adjacent luminaires. Is there anything in the code requiring the luminaires to be individually supported.
