I have a bizarre electrical phenomena going on at my home...

If this toy is within 2' of the stove or the metal rack that is also next to the stove - it turns on as if you pressed one of it's buttons when you turn on the gas and the electric sparker is on....

Yes - the circuit the stove is on is grounded, and the toy is battery operated, completely plastic on the outside and in no way wired to anything.... It will also do this if suspended near the stove with no contact to anything.

I guess I should no bring my stove on any aircraft and operate it in-flight....

The switches inside of the toy work like a touch lamp does. I can sit in my driveway, and key the mic on my cb, and it makes the touch lamp come on. I can sit in my driveway and watch the lamp go from H-M-L-off,,,,,,as I'm talking on the cb. I also can light a 4' flourescent tube in my hand by holding it close to the antenna and keying the mic.

I hate toys. A few years ago some of the grand-kids were over. One of them was playing with a batt. operated toy school bus that my wife had picked up at a yard sale while spending my money and bringing home more junk:mad:. Any way. The toy had been left on a chair in the bedroom. That night we were having a thunder storm I was almost asleep when we had a lightning strike near the house. The bus started saying "by by" "by by" which is what it would say when you pushed the off button. Needless to say the bus damn near got shot.

I'm glad your not my childrens grandpa!!!!

ignitors on stoves can put out a huge spike of rf interference. you can sometimes hear the ignitor on your tv, radio, computer, intercom, and anything else in range.

I have a better one.

My grandkids had a "whack a mole" toy with gophers that would pop up and say diferent things.

The toy was at my Fathers house and he had passed away two days before. My sister was in town from Georgia, staying at my Father's house. In the middle of the night. something set this thing off and it started saying "I'm still here. I'm still here".
