Price of RigidGalvanized Conduit

Here in Maine, the price of rigid metal conduit (rmc) has allmost tripled lately. Distributors say the Chinese are at fault, buying all the steel that is available. Any comments or other explanations?

yes steel has gone way up along with copper and other building materials

2 weeks ago I paid $130 for 100' 1"emt. Copper has actually come down slightly. I am in the middle of a nice wiremold job right now. Thank goodness its T&M!!!!

Maybe that 2 foot piece is not trash anymore.
i seen 1/2 inch at big orange few weeks ago at $3 a stick

It was going for $3.29 per stick last time I looked. 3/4" was double that. I stopped using 3/4" unless I absolutely had to.

i heard today from plumber that scrap # 1 copper is at $1.90 a lb

Here in N.W. Indiana Home Depot was $3.89 for a stick of 1/2" EMT. And they are the cheepest in the area
PVC and smurf is looking better all the time.

I just paid $50.00 for 10' of 2" RMC

In de. ordered 1.5" rigid, $62.9 per stick, called another it was $44. called back the first wholesaler and he brought the price down to the $44. This was not a big job and the bill was $1600 for the steel, blew me away. We did away with the tarrifs on steel right??? Somebody is making a LOT of money here, I wonder who it is???
