Any body charging by the sq. ft any more in resi. I ussually don't because I mostly do custom homes. But I have seveeral large spec homes to bid.

A house I am bidding on will have about 40, 120 volt circuits. That's a lot of Afci's. I'll need to get $4-$5 per. sq. ft. price.
What are you all charging ?

You may get that. It's going to depend on the contractor. If these are larger speck homes they may go with more "extras" than a smaller spec. The ones I see that are still doing a few spec. homes 2200-2500sq ft are just barley getting $3.00 sq ft. The GC know they have them over a barrel which in turn makes for a crappy job. The GC's dont want to hear about more AFCI's or TP recp. and the extra cost. So you wind up with 4 rooms on one breaker and dont even think about a three way for convenience.

We are only allowed a maximum of 12 drops on a 20 amp AFCI.
10 drops on a 15 amp AFCI This is a State Rule.

Oh yeah , I told him I would install a ufer grd. He could use it as one of his many selling points to the house.

I dont know if we will see that. I was in a CEU class and all of the class was inspectors except me. They were talking about all the large contractors that were converging on the board complaining about the extra cost and call backs on AFCI's. I can imagine what will happen if they passed that.

We don't do Resi construction, but have friends that do, and that 4 to 5 dollar range is typical for our town. However EC's come from "out of town" and do it for less...........much less

I bought 10 sq/ft of wire and 5 sq/ft of panels yesterday and they were $23.00 sq/ft

So $23/sq ft x 3000 sq/ft house=$69,000.00 I don't believe you'll get the job....maybe next time...:grin: Maybe try a $200 panel / 3000sq/ft=$.067sqft would work....Just rib'n you back....Hope all is well at the Lake of the Ozarks, we visited Bennett Springs the other day, what a beautifull place................:grin:

Ha Ha, That's the day we were there the 4th, after being at Starvy Creek Bluegrass Festival in Conway MO. You should have had your gun ready.... I turned around at the bridge at went back out the same way we came in....Just had this funny feeling.......:grin:
