Im in florida,in general , how do you calculate how much to charge for labor ? should I go by the hour or by the job done? thank you

Ronald, I have to ask, are you a licensed contractor in the state of Fl? It is illegal to charge a fee for this type of work unless you hold a valid license.

You are going to need MUCH more information before you or anyone else can price this job. What size sub-panel and what distance from the panel, through what conditions. Has a load calculation been done on the existing panel and the additional load to be added calculated to determine if the existing service is adequate? Will the new kitchen have electric or gas appliances? What other appliances will be installed in the kitchen? How many small appliance circuits will be installed. What will be the conditions for wiring the kitchen, will it be bare studs so like wiring a new house, or will the wires need to be fished through finished walls. Right now A "ballpark figure" would be between $1000 and $100,000. I'll say it again, There are no shortcuts! Get your information together perform a load calculation and then bid the job accurately or walk away.

If not licensed where required, in some states, if the work he did resulted in injury or, a loss of life, he could be looking at a long, prison stay.

you all are mean.....just have them get other quotes...then do it for 10 percent less than their lowest quote....that's the fair way to do it....

this sounds like a guaranteed way to lose money. the lowest quote is often the guy who screwed up the worst, and you want to work for less than that ? as others have said, if you're going to be in business you need to figure out what you need to get in order to stay in business, so its best to do your homework now. figure out how long you think it will take you, multiply x 2, that is your labor. figure out how much you think the materials are, mutliply by 2, thats your materials. add together and multiply by 1.5.; the .5 is your profit (hopefully). later on you can refine your pricing to what works for you - this is just a rough idea of how to get you started. (if you find it takes you longer than 2x what you originally thought, next time multiply by 3, etc etc)

and subpanel. Minimum 3000 for kitchen and about 1000 for subpanel just a ballpark. I always do a goldplate kitchen tho no cutting corners no callbacks

LOL that is too funny:grin:

think of all the money i saved by not estimating...that just lowers my overhead...so i can do it for less...

that guy in the craigslist ad is a hack...he backstabs receptacles and uses illegal labor...but he pays the BBB to answer the phones and give him good ratings...

Rick: How can you close me up? On what grounds?
Captain Renault: I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!
[a croupier hands Renault a pile of money]
Croupier: Your winnings, sir.
Captain Renault: [sotto voce] Oh, thank you very much.
[aloud]
Captain Renault: Everybody out at once!
