We, my help, were burying feeders to a grain bin yesterday. We knew we would be crossing a newly buried primary in schedule 40 PVC. IDK the voltage. The POCO had flagged the location and it was supposed to be +4’ down.
The POCOs flags were off by 18” and our equipment was off by 16”. We are usually directly over what we locate but I don’t remember every locating primary before. They brought out our locator when they hadn’t found the conduit under the POCOs flags.
What would be a reason for missing by such a large distance? An inductive clamp was used to apply the signal.
Yes, I know an 18” discrepancy is allowed.
