The voltage limit will depend on the insulation system. The current limit will depend on the insulation system and the cross-sectional area of the conductor. You will have to make your question more specific.

RECOMMENDATION: Please give different titles to your questions. Otherwise, the second might get deleted as a duplicate of the first. It also helps to use a title that is somehow related to the nature of the question.

What is the voltage and / or current limit for running 2 conductor cable in open air?
Can 2/C cable even be run in open air? Except for certain cases, a ground would have to be run as part of the cable.

OK - 24Vdc, 20 amp, 12 awg, 2 conductor cable

Can this cable be run along/within the conveyor 'C' shaped side frame if after commissioning the conveyor the frame/cable is covered with a snap-on plastic cover.

I don't believe that the snap on cover is an issue at all.

I commented in your other post about this.

Part of the problem with an open ended question like this is that you have a lot more information upon which a decision might be based than anyone here, but you have not shared it with us.

For instance, if the cable is supplied pre-installed as part of the conveyor sections, or if the conveyor sections are part of another machine, a pretty good argument can be made that the wiring is not subject to the NEC as it is not premises wiring.

You have also neglected to mention just what the cable is powering. That could make a difference in the answer.
