On a sewer plant job on the Texas Gulf Coast...engineer wants G.E.C.'s installed at 4 corners of open concrete tank, w/ 2/0 thw conductors from 3/4" electrode to steel catwalk around tank. He gave me no spec but as he was leaving reminded me that he wanted stainless hardware ( obvious with salt air and methane/ hydrogen sulfide rich environment ), but told me to pay attention to dissimiliar metals and electrolytic cells... I understand that the zinc will react with the chromium in the stainless, so what is the standard method for this connection and are there any code/standards to reference too?

thanx,
Quinn

Sounds like a counterpoise system which is common practice for a water treatment plant. SS, brass, and copper materials will be sufficient. However, you really do need to get the engineer to give you better plans, details, and specifications for EVERY aspect of the install...
