Is this a legal notification device for a fire alarm system?

:D  :-?

Proper fire alarm notification?

....I'll just say I got the fire dept. to pay me a visit a few weeks ago.

It was a big shiny red truck with sirens and lights and stuff. It was really sweet.

.....nuff said.

oops.

We can laugh about it now.

I once installed a digital master clock system in an office building.

It looked much like this brand ....

dc25al%20(time)%20low%20res.jpg

But if you provided a fire alarm signal to the master clock all the slave clocks would flash this...

dc25alnew%20fire%20low%20res.jpg

We did not end up using that option and wondered if it would have been legal to.

That will also teach you to carry a KEY for that system in your pocket at all times....;)

As I found out, it's the key that's the problem.

Apparently......the cover is tamper proof. oops.

Nuff said.

You think the engineers that designed that type of pull had a good laugh about how many false alarms would be generated.

Why would the key be the problem? Did you leave in the pull station?

I always carry a key to the fire alarm system that's on the job site. So I always can reset pull stations, gain access to the panel, and, when comissioning a system, open an pull station without breaking the plastic bar (Or getting purple dye all over my hand) to cause the system to go into alarm.

Fire dispatch: How do we get to your house...???

Homeowner: Don't you have those big, red trucks, anymore...???

I'll bet it is funny (now).

My question is "did they have a Dalmatian aboard that shiney red truck", so you two could sniff and make up?

Best Wishes Everyone

I once had the fire service dispatched to my jobsite in error because of a time zone problem. My office called the alarm monitoring station and put the system on test until 5 pm. The monitoring station, which was in the Eastern time zone, set the test period until 5 pm their time. We're out West, and sure enough the fire department showed up while we were testing. They were not amused, but didn't take it out on us.

The worst are the old style pulls where the cover holds in a push button, i think they're simplex, as soon as you turn the key they go off. I always keep an edwards and a simplex key on all my key chains even the one that just has my house and car.
