I would recommend that you Click on "Search" above, and when the Search page comes up, type "Generator" or "Transfer Switch" in the space provided, and you will get many threads.
After studying some of these that are applicable, ask us some specific questions.

I would also reccomend you read article 250.30, and 702 to start out with then get back to us.

Here are some citations to bone up on:
702.8(A)(B); 702.5; 702.6, 110.3(B); 250.30(A)(2); 445.10-14. That will get you in the neighborhood. Post back with more questions.
