Protecting Tekmar Boiler Controls

I have been asked to install an expensive Tekmar Boiler control that automates the domestic and hot water baseboard heating in an apartment. I was told that "clean" power is required, and was wondering if I should insist on installing surge protection for the building to protect the controls from surges. It's very important to maintain sanitary heating levels of hot water in the building, and being an older person oriented building, the heat is also important too....anyone have any experiences with tekmar controls ?

Thanks...

Never installed this, but I see this mentioned in one of their boiler control installation instructions

Run wires from the 120 V (ac) power to the control. Use a clean power source to ensure proper operation. Multi-strand 16 AWG
wire is recommended for all 120 V (ac) wiring due to its superior flexibility and ease of installation into the terminals.

Then this in their technical data:

Power supply ? 120 V ?10%, 50/60 Hz, 1300 VA

They do mention avoiding EMI for proper operation in another section...

Thanks...I am going to install a modular surge protector ahead of the devices...can't go wrong with so much at stake...I was wondering if they may have some internal protection, but apperantly not. Anytime I install a tekmar, I'll be installing a surge device also...same goes for Fire Alarm panels. A Community Service Bulding blew their fire alarm when someone took out a Hydro pole across the street...now I've installed service entrance surge devices in the other 2 buildings they own helping to protect their fire alarm and computers.
