Not a good day! By the way that green thing under the truck is a utility transformer. I believe the primary to that was 7,200 Volt! Also notice the orange barricade. Looks like it did alot of good.

"MURDOCK -- A Port Charlotte man crashed his truck into the carrier annex for the Murdock post office Monday morning, resulting in the delay of mail service for almost all the residents in the area.

Workers in the building could feel the tremor when the Chevy truck, driven by Gerald Palmieri, rolled over a transformer and crashed into the front corner of the building around 10 a.m., witnesses said."

Keep in mind that most of the posts that electric utilities require to be installed are not to stop something like that from occurring, they are to stop slow moving vehicles from bumping our facilities. :D

Re: Protection from Physical Damage

I am guessing the barricade became more of a ramp. :)

We had to replace a padmount transformer when a large tractor that was mowing a steep hill beside the transformer slide down the hill and pushed the transformer right off of the pad sheering the conductors, conduits and bollards.

The operator was fine but needed new shorts. :D

Re: Protection from Physical Damage

Im tired of these elderly drivers who refuse to accept the fact that they shouldn't be driving.Just last month an elderly man drove through an apartment building killing a lady. And we all remember the California senior who drove through the farmers market killing 9 people. When the baby boomers retire we will have millions of these senile drivers terrorizing the roads.

Jim, would a Hummer neutralize the effect 4160v, 7200v, or 12470v would impose on it?
