have pull box with four 4" conduits entering one wall, one row; opposite wall is a removable cover. The discrepancy is with distance required per the exception.
How is the exception to NEC 314.28 A 2 is calculated?
w/o exception we will need 6x4" plus 3x4" total of 36".

You will need to tell us the size of the conductors in the 4" conduits before you can calculate the minimum size in accordance with the exception to 314.28(A)(2).

Use size of largest conductor 1 wire per terminal column of 312.6(A)
Also keep in mind that
The distance between raceway entries enclosing the same conductor shall not be less than six times the larger raceway.
