I guess I’m becoming a bit of a hard ass in my old age I guess.

Told a customer today if she hires laborers to dig the trench and install the conduit because they are cheaper than me and my excavator, I won’t install the conductors.

I’ll put pipe in someone else’s trench as long as it meets specs, I’m doing that on several PW jobs I’m on, the GC will do all the site work, trenching, underground, etc, I’ll drop the pipe and add the ribbon.

But for some HO who wants to hire some tweaker to possibly screw it up…..No thanks. Hard pass. To many possible issues with that.

Too many bends, wrong size, poor joints, whatever. You just never know.

If it's left up to whoever they hire to determine the material and how it's installed what could possibly go wrong? 😖

I’m sure she’ll have them call me to get pipe size, materials, number of bends allowed, and borrow my warning ribbon. 😡😳😂😂

Told her I was doing the trenching, conduit, and trenching for the plumber as well, along with warning ribbon and tracer wire.

She said “what’s tracer wire”? I said that’s what you’re paying me for. She said I guess I can google it. 🙄

That was after I showed her my layout to avoid a pull box, and several other things that she had no idea what I was talking about, then complained at my price and also said she knew nothing about electrical. 🙄

Perfectly understandable.

It makes no sense, and it's the homeowner & an unqualified person(s) (who can't do the rest of the job) running your show. You're not becoming hardened, you're just sober & experienced to others poor judgement. If responsibility for the circuit will ultimately rest with you - why get involved.
