I have building A (480V service) next to building B (208V service) with a 1-foot gap in between. The same institution owns both buildings. A 480V pump needs to be installed in building B, so the owner wants to get a circuit for it from building A. Is this allowed or prohibited by the NEC? Please provide an NEC reference with your response. Thanks.

at a quick glance looks like article 225.30 (A) Special Conditions. May depend on the application of your pumps.

Edit: sorry read your question too fast. Look at 225.30 (E) Different Characteristics
