A friend of mine gave me this breaker he had removed from a house panel.

It is a Square D twin 15 amp single pole, but check out the wire terminals.

I have never seen a push in terminal on a breaker, has anyone worked with these or know when they where made?

Re: Push in Breaker Terminals?

hey Bob,
Yes I have seen them and worked with those Sq D breakers. We call them tandem breakers. They are a pain in the butt. Not only do they take up alot of room in the panel (the wire terminal extends past the back mount) it is hard to test voltage on the wire installed. The one good thing is that they ARE sensitive, at least they are not FPE!!

Re: Push in Breaker Terminals?

Oh and on the time frame I have seen them in CB panels from the late 60's early 70's. That does not mean that they could not have been installed later. Though I have seen them with the original residential house wire installed (usually BX) and no added romex in the panel.

Re: Push in Breaker Terminals?

I've seen a few. Not too happy about'em. They usually go into the trash rather than the emergency spares box.

Re: Push in Breaker Terminals?

I have a bunch of the Zinsco ones. I think I posted a pic of them eons ago.

Bob, I have a couple SQ.D. QO like the one you show, but mine have (2) pull-outs for 15amp cartridge fuses.
I'll email a pic to you, 'cause my server is full right now.
