Hello

Can someone please tell me what code reference is required when connecting the ouput of a PV inverter to the supply side of a buildings panel? I know when performing a load side tap at a panel you must follow the requirements of 705.12(D) however are there any special requirements when performing a line side tap?

Do you have to have a disconnecting means between the inverter and the tap?

705.12 (A) permits it, also 230.82 (6).

It's part of the service entrance, so everything must meet all the requirements for service entrances. See Article 230. 2011 also makes it explicit in 705.12 (A) that the PV OCPD(s) must not exceed the rating of the service.

Do you have to have a disconnecting means between the inverter and the tap?
Um...yes, you have to have a disconnecting means and overcurrent protection between the utility and any equipment. 230.70 and 230.90
