Dear all,
Could you please let me know in addition to a MCCB at the tapping point do we also require a trip unit for PV system? if yes is there a benchmark of when we need to use trip units (ex: breaker with LSIG protection) in terms of current level.
This is for a commercial rooftop system
Thanks in advance

It's going to depend on the size of the interconnection and what you are coordinating with. On the load side interconnection, you may or may not need ground fault protection. But on a larger interconnection having an electronic trip LSI unit can help when trying to coordinate with the upstream OCPD. Typically you don't want a fault on the PV circuit to trip the main building breaker on a load side interconnection. Customers frown on that.

Could you please elaborate more on what size range are you referring to? Generally we will be interconnecting our system with the existing LV switchboard.

I need more information about the PV system to discuss specific interconnection options. "Commercial rooftop system" is not specific enough.
