Doing my first PV install (on my house) and I had the following question. How long are the plug and play XLP/RHH cables supplied permitted to be run away from the solar array? For example, we have a combiner box to parallel the 5 sets and would like to mount that unit approx 5' away from the array on a wall adjoining a flat subroof to the roof with the full array. Basically the garage is a flat roof about 5' lower than the full roof holding the arrays and we want to mount the combiner box on this wall using just the plug and play cables. We are running out of the combiner box to the inverter in Rigid Aluminum Conduit. Is there a problem witht eh plug and play cable runs? Any help would be appreciated.

I can't find anything that limits the length.

Don't forget to hit the DC Disconnect first! "nearest the point of entrance of the system conductors" Or does your inverter have one built in?

Not that I know of but you could always put them in PVC until you enter the structure.

690.31(B) Is what you are looking for. I read it as saying you do not need to pipe the array together where you are describing.

There is a disconect in the inverter and I am hitting a combiner box with 5 15 amp cbs in it first. The question was about the run from the PV bank to the combiner box but I see no limits, the wire by the way is #10XLP RHH or RHW-2 OR USE-2 SUNLIGHT RESISTANT thank god ror ink jet printing, we used to use an imprint wheel.
