Using Panelview Plus 7 in a Nitrogen Purged/Pressurized Panel in a Hazardous Area Class 2 Div 1 Group E, F & G. Is a Hinged Hard Plastic Cover required to be installed over the HMI? Currently having trouble sourcing the cover. We started including the cover in these situations based on a recommendation.

Thanks in Advance!

Not necessarily; you have two primary concerns:
  • Dust is excluded from the interior of the panel. [Section 502.10(A)(3)]
  • The panel exterior is temperature-limited as described in Section 500.8(C)(4).
Only if a hinged, hard plastic cover is necessary to accomplish them is it needed.

This has nothing to do with whether it meets the area classification requirements or not but I have been told by Allen Bradley that some of the panel views do not support being pressurized as it causes the delamination of either the resistive overlay or membrane keypad. You might want to take a close look at that.
