Exceptions to 314.3, Nonmetallic Boxes, allow the use of metal-armored cables to enter nonmetallic boxes provided that between all entries there is an internal bonding means. What are these internal bonding means?
How is the electrical continuity of the cable's metal armor maintained throughout the system if in fact the MC cable is simply pushed into the non-metallic box and retained by the plastic clip? Thanks

You seem to be thinking of a non metallic device box.

I think that section has more to do with non-metallic junction boxes where you would use an MC connector to enter the box, then you could use bonding bushings to ground the armor.

i dont think the use of MC in a standard nail on box is legal by the UL listing. im sure they make boxes with KO's on them that you could put a piece of MC or conduit or other connector inside. the internal boding means probably could be a bonding bushing or something along those lines

Have you seen the all plastic duct smoke detector, it has a thin piece of

metal inside that a connector and locknut seat on it, the metal also has a

grounding screw terminal.

if you know the manufacter name can you give us the info ? thanks

Merci, Marc

System sensor makes a duct smoke like Frank described.

There is nothing to ground inside the enclosure but the metal will continue the ground to a second MC leaving the enclosure.
