a contractor installed a plastic junction box for surge protection 4160 volt application .As a licensed electrician in our waste water plant i do not feel this box is safe for a possible explosion. i am trying to find some information for listing and labling the manufacturing name is Intetga mod-ip-66 issue no. as-5102. The cover is clear and does not have a thick cover.I looked in Art314 maybe someone can help thanks mark

Why would it matter if it was 4160V for explosion protection? Plastic boxes are not explosion proof at any voltage.

II. Requirements for Over 600 Volts, Nominal
300.37 Aboveground Wiring Methods.

PVC conduit is not listed in 300.37. But I am not sure that prevents you from using a PVC junction box.
