Does anyone out there have general information on how long a PVC jacketed cable will last in an underground conduit, i.e. wet location?
In which case all of the parking lot lights installed in the 70s should be failing. No scientific basis for this but I'll say 30-40 years.
I was thinking NM cable not UF.In which case all of the parking lot lights installed in the 70s should be failing.
Weren't TW and UF insulations introduced in the 50s?
I was thinking NM cable not UF.
I recently pulled out some underground PVC ( just before things froze up) that had 14/2 NM cable in it.That makes sense. Incorrectly installed NM will probably last lots longer then expected (unless water wicks up into the paper, in a location with freeze/thaw cycles), but properly installed UF will last much longer.
