When and what are the code requirements for pvc coated riged. I have a contractor running rigid under ground for primary 4160 and secondary 120/208.

As I understand it, PVC coated rigid is the same as regular rigid code wise.

That makes sense to me. It is not a lot different than painting it.

Why would you run PVC coated rigid UG?

I could understand running PVC UG, but not PVC coated rigid. Unless they have very corrosive soil and wand rigit and not PVC conduit.

I can see you don't work in Florida. Ridged disappears underground near the coastline in Florida. As do ground rods.

I've worked on a few gas pipeline monitoring stations here in PA and everything that was run underground was specced to be in PVC coated rigid. Maybe because of the cathodic protection system?
