The worst fastening puzzle has to be DryVit and other similar EFIS systems. Not so easy to find a stud under a couple inches of styrofoam, and not much holds in the "crust" of the DryVit-like stucco systems.

For new work if your lucky you get the GC to provide blocking if it is not already required by plans.

Old work, if it has to hold any weight I have made long toggles with threaded rod that reach past the sheathing behind the EFIS.

They using much of that "yellow drywall" up your way? That seems to be what they're using around here a lot for sheathing behind EFIS.

Nope. It's exterior.

My next question - what method do you all prefer for screwing into stucco?
Can you stucco the PVC? No, Right. I'd still get your attachment method done and talk to the painter and let them stucco at least the strap base.
Do they make Colored PVC ?
Frankly, I'd go ridge just so they could paint it, but thats me ...
