I've looked through the forum on various threads and I have came to the conclusion that I can not run PVC conduit from panel under slab to a J-box (multiple circuits) in ceiling and run hospital grade MC to recs. I referenced 517.13 (A) and cross referenced to 250.118.

My understanding is that the raceway has to be made of metal exterior or interior (seal tight).

Would 250.118 (1) allow for PVC to be ran in the case of a 2nd ground wire being pulled in the conduit?

In my opinion PVC can not be run. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks Nate

side note most of the topics i had found were dated so i am not sure if there was a code change since topic creation

As Roger pointed out this redundant ground that must be provided by the wiring method is for branch circuits supplying patient care areas. You can run non patient care branch circuits in PVC or even a feeder in PVC - even one that supplies patient care area branch circuits.

You're correct about feeders (take note of the requirements of 517.30(C)(3) though) but there is no exception for branch circuits in Patient Care Areas.
