Saw this when I stopped for lunch today. I know the area and the POCO requires at least 2" GRC .......... unless you know someone.

So what inspector passed that with hardly any straps on it. Podco's hire sub contractors around here and they will do almost anything-- esp. if you slip them a few bucks..:D Just kidding.

I am amazed that the mast looks pretty sturdy. I guess the guy wire is doing the trick.

I'm still learning. What section of the Code requires the "air gap" at the LB ?:)

Probably will never be a problem. The drop is not too long, the mast is short and it's tied off ok.

Don't know how it passed though.

As I see it, the PVC will not be able to stand the lateral forces of the wind and other ravages of Mother Nature over the years. I can see the issue arising where the PVC is strapped just as it meets the building below the weather head.

P.S.
The inspection was made one day during a dark, rainy, snowstorm...which made it hard to see at 40 MPH.:cool:

What happens when a tall truck comes along and clips that low-hanging lo-voltage wire (the presence of which is another violation!) and pulls on the mast where it's not tied back?

I just wonder why they didn't run the GRC mast straight up tight to the building finish and then guy it off? Who wants to screw around with 90's and an LB just to snake it around a corner?

Sometimes I think people do it the hard way just to create work...

I think the height of the com cable complies with the conditions. But I agree, the extra cable is a violation.

But if you look close you can see another weather head supplying the sign, I guess the lot is to small for large trucks.
